So, I begin my Bread Challenge. The rules are simple: make 5 different varieties and put up 5 separate posts to show them in all their glory (I hope). I'll put one more post up at the end to show all the finished articles!
I don't really know why I decided to do this, but there's just something nice about making your own bread. It tastes so much better!
So I'm going to start off my bread challenge with the humble white loaf. It might not be the most interesting recipe, but I feel it's definitely worthy of a place in the Bread Challenge!

Admittedly, the recipe is from the Dorling Kindersley Children's Cookbook, but it has served me well! The recipe makes 2 small loaves or a bakers dozen of rolls (as seen below - this photo is from a little while ago now though!).
Something I made earlier . . . :P |
As it makes two loaves - I decided to leave one plain (like it should be!) and the other with some sesame seeds sprinkled on the top.
Anyway, I've babbled on long enough. I present to you . . . THE WHITE LOAF.
White bread flour + salt + sugar + yeast + oil + luke warm water |
Mix it up! |
Knead! |
Done! |
Leave in a warm place for an hour or so |
Divide the dough between two 1lb tins and let them rise a bit more! |
I then brushed each loaf with egg and sprinkled one of them with some sesame seeds. . . BUT! I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the final post to see it all baked! Stay tuned for Bread #2 :D
